Robin van Persie says Netherlands are in a "terrible" position as their Euro 2016 qualification hopes took a massive blow as they lost 3-0 to Turkey on Sunday.
The defeat sees Oranje stuck in fourth place in Group A, two points behind Fatih Terim's men, who occupy the play-off place, with two games remaining.
Even if the Dutch beat Kazakhstan and Czech Republic in their final two games, they are not guaranteed to finish third as Turkey need just four points to hold on to third place.
And Van Persie could not hide his disappointment after the defeat: "You could say that [it hurts], yes," he told NOS. "We no longer have qualification in our own hands.
"It’s terrible. I find that really awful.
"Qualifying is very difficult, but we still have a chance.
"We must continue to fight to the end and win the last two games anyway.”
