Under-pressure Chelsea Football Club manager, Jose Mourinho, has strongly denied calling former first team doctor Eva Carneiro a ‘daughter of a whore.’ The allegations flow from the club’s opening match against Swansea during which the coach lost his temper with the medical staff who rushed into the pitch to treat injured player Eden Hazard.
Mourinho is now being investigated by the English Football Association and could face a five-match ban if found guilty of using abusive language against the doctor. The probe was initiated after a member of the public filed a complaint.
But the manager has vehemently insisted to club officials that he said he said in Portuguese was ‘filho da puta’ which means ‘son of a bitch’ and not ‘filha da puta.’ However, the complainant is insisting based on video evidence he has provided Mourinho used the feminine version of the insult against Carneiro.
The FA received a complaint after the match on 8 August and the governing body’s compliance department are now studying video evidence.
“The FA has received an enquiry relating to an alleged incident during the Premier League fixture between Swansea v Chelsea on 8 August, and will make no further comment at this time,” read a statement. Under rule E3, players and coaches can be penalised for using “offensive, insulting or abusive language and/or gestures.”
