Marcello Lippi believes Roma legend Francesco Totti is not entirely happy, despite the attacker scoring his 300th goal for the club on Sunday.
The 38-year-old reached the milestone with a goal in his side's 2-2 draw with Sassuolo in the league.
However, Lippi feels the ex-Italy star is suffering, either because of a lack of first team football or because his career is nearing its end.
“I was at the Stadio Olimpico to watch the game between Roma and Sassuolo and saw Totti score his 300th goal,” he told Radio Due.
“There was a celebration as his children, who were also in attendance, were filled with joy.
“But I sensed a sadness in him. There is a bit of sadness surrounding Francesco just now.
“I don’t know if this is because he is not being used as much lately, or maybe he is starting to understand that he is coming towards the end of his fantastic career.”
