The Spain international's abrasive approach played a key role in the sending off of Gabriel Paulista in Saturday's 1-0 win over Arsenal, as the centre-back was shown a red card after he kicked out at the striker.
Costa continued to make a nuisance of himself throughout the game and the Football Association have subsequently charged the 26-year-old for "an alleged act of violent conduct" linked to a confrontation with Laurent Koscielny, but Spain team-mate Fabregas has praised the striker's attitude.
"He’s very competitive," the Chelsea midfielder told the club's official website.
"It’s good. He’s hungry for success and to win all the time. You can see the fans love him as well, they get behind him all the time so it’s great for us."
Fabregas, who was credited with an assist for Kurt Zouma's winning goal, also said that he is enjoying his side's return to form following a stuttering start to the season.
"We were on a bad run and now we are playing better and confidence is higher - we don’t want to stop here," the Spaniard said.
"We went into a bad run, every team has one in a season and hopefully we’ve had ours. We’ve taken off and we hope this is just the beginning of what will be a big season for us."
