Thiago Silva: PSG have the best players in Europe

I don't think Barca and Madrid fans will with him though, but I think PSG has really good players. On paper, Paris Saint-Germain have the strongest team in Europe, according to Thiago Silva.

The French side won four domestic trophies last season but were eliminated from the Champions League at the quarter-final stage, having failed to get beyond the last eight in each of the last three years.

But the centre-back believes they are even stronger this season and believes they have what it takes to fulfill their promise and win Europe's most prestigious club competition.

"if you look at the European teams, on paper, PSG has the squad with the most quality players," he told L'Equipe.

"We are one of the top teams. For me, Barcelona is the best, Bayern Munich and Real Madrid are next, and after that it's Manchester City, Chelsea and us.

"When I look at this team, I think it's a great team. I think this is the best team I've ever played in, there is so much quality.

"I have thought a lot lately and I realised that I still have dreams to achieve. I want to leave PSG one day having won the Champions League. That is my biggest dream.

"We've been knocked out at the quarter-finals three times in a row, the semi-finals is what we want to achieve now, or even reach the final.

"Last season we played against Barca without six key players - three injured and three suspended.You only need to imagine it the other way. If you remove Neymar, Luis Suarez, Lionel Messi, Andres Iniesta, Gerard Pique and Javier Mascherano from Barca, it's not the same team."

The Brazil international admits that winning in Europe is the top priority this term for his side, above the league.

"Everybody is focused because everyone has a great goal ahead. To realise this dream - I'm talking of course about winning the Champions League - you need a very good start to the season.

"Physically, we are still not 100 per cent, but technically and tactically we are already there.

"The most important thing is the spirit. The motivation lies within each of us. By winning four titles last season, we did something that had never been done before in France.

"It was very important for the club and players. But the first objective has always been the Champions League."
