NPFL Week 30 Recap: League Leaders Enyimba Suffer Away Loss

IfeanyiUbah survived what would have been another home defeat as they forcedKano Pillars to a 1-1 draw.

The tension soaked match was one that ended amidst confusion over a red card handed out to Pillars reserve keeper Lawrence John few minutes to the end.

John got the marching order over a brawl involving him and a supporter of IfeanyiUbah who encroached into the field.

The referee, Akure Jeremiah who added four minutes to the game hurriedly called it off apparently to save the day.

Away defeats for Enyimba and Warri Wolves means both Wikki Tourists andSunshine Stars keep the chase close in the top 4 of the Nigeria Professional Football League.

Sunshine won away from home on Saturday 2-1 against Kwara United and appear to have their campaign back on the road.

Meanwhile, the battle for Survival almost fading out for Bayelsa and Taraba both of whom were on the losing side on Sunday.

Wikki Tourists closed the gap at the top of the table after a 2-0 win over Bayelsa United on Sunday.

Wikki remained third on the league table with 51 points from 30 games, same as second-placed Warri Wolves who have better goal difference.

Abia Warriors ended Warri Wolves unbeaten run in the last three games of the NPFL on Sunday with a 2-1 win.

Wolves now have 51 points from 30 games, while Abia have 46 points from same number of games.

The hosts made their impression to win the game known very early as they got the lead in the fourth minute through Henry Ochuba, who fired home a rocket from the edge of 18-yard box.

Joseph Osadiaye equalised for Warri Wolves in the ninth minute.
Abia Warriors victory was sealed by Ifeanyi Onyeali's goal in the 54th minute.

Shooting Stars defeated hard-fighting Akwa United 1-0. 3SC now have 44 points from 30 games, while Akwa United have 34 points from 30 games.

Captain Seun Akinyemi scored the only goal of the game in the 12th minute after poor defending by Akwa players of a corner kick.

Heartland failed to beat Lobi Stars in Owerri when both teams played out a goalless draw in a Week 30 game on Sunday.

Heartland now have 44 points from 30 games, while Lobi Stars have 36 points from same number of games.

There were no clear-cut chances at goals by both sides.
