Aston Villa 0-1 West Brom: Berahino back with a bang for the Baggies

Saido Berahino scored on his return for West Brom as they beat local rivals Aston Villa 1-0 on Saturday.

The Baggies striker made his first appearance since his public criticism of chairman Jeremy Peace for blocking a summer move to Tottenham Hotspur, yet opened the scoring just before half-time with a deft flick.

Berahino was substituted just after the hour mark with former Villa midfielder Craig Gardner coming on in his place and, despite the hosts' attempt to level the game, West Brom held on for the victory.

Villa next face Birmingham City in the League Cup on Tuesday for the second of two local derbies in a week.
