Hernanes ready to replace Vidal - Allegri

Juventus coach Massimiliano Allegri says that Hernanes is ready to replace Arturo Vidal and take up an attacking midfield role.

Juve, who lost the opening two games of the Serie A season for the first time in their history, saw Vidal move to Bayern Munich and Andrea Pirlo join New York City FC ahead of the 2014-15 season.

The reigning league champions restructured their midfield with the signing of Hernanes from Inter this summer and Allegri believes that the former Lazio midfielder can take up an attacking role behind the strikers.

"The Brazilian is ready," he told the press ahead of their match against Chievo on Saturday.

"He has all the qualities to be the attacking midfielder."

Hernanes has played in a number of midfield roles in his career, starting as a defensive midfielder in his early career in Brazil, then moving further forward in Italy.

Now the Juve boss sees parts of the 30-year-old's game that would be suitable for a position further up the field.

"He was born central in front of the defence, then made a central midfielder and has the features to be the attacking midfielder," Allegri continued.
