A first half red card for Olivier Giroud compounded an awful night for Arsenal as Dinamo Zagreb ran out 2-1 winners in Wednesday's Champions League clash.
Arsene Wenger's side went 1-0 down after 24 minutes in Zagreb, as a Josip Pivaric strike deflected off Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and into the Arsenal net.
But Giroud's red card changed the course of the match, after being booked early on for dissent, the referee dismissed the France striker following an untidy challenge on 40 minutes.
Junior Fernandes then rose to head in a corner after 58 minutes, before a Theo Walcott consolation goal on pulled one back for the Gunners on 79 minutes, but a spell of pressure late on did not result in an Arsenal equaliser.
