Nigeria defeated hosts Congo 5-3 on penalties after final scores stood at 0-0 to win bronze medal at the 2015 All Africa Games on Thursday.
Goalkeeper Emmanuel Daniel was the hero when he saved Sagesse Babele’s penalty kick, while Etor Daniel, Sodiq Atanda, Kingsley Sokari, Erhun Obanor and Christian Pyagbara all scored from the penalty spot for Nigeria.
Mustapha Abdullahi had a glaring chance to score in the 32nd minute in a one-on-one situation with the Congo goalkeeper, but he decided to pass tor Junior Ajayi, whose effort was wide off target.
Overall, the game was tight with a handful of chances created by both sides, who incidentally clashed in a 2015 Africa U23 Cup of Nations qualifier recently, which Nigeria also shaded.
