Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has revealed Luke Shaw was crying in the changing room after suffering a double fracture to his leg.
The England international was stretchered off in the first half against PSV after being challenged by Hector Moreno, and will now undergo surgey back in England.
And Van Gaal admitted he was upset for the full-back after starting the season so well for the Red Devils.
"He has a double leg fracture. He's in hospital and he'll be transfered tomorrow with us or maybe a day later," he told reporters. "He'll be operated in Manchester probably. It's awful.
"A boy who came at 18 to Manchester and found it very difficult, then in his second season he's fantastic, and then it happens like this.
"He was in the dressing room with the oxygen mask... he was crying."
