Spain set to see best of Diego Costa, insists Cazorla

Santi Cazorla insists Diego Costa is ready to fire Spain to the brink of Euro 2016 qualification, despite his sluggish start to the new Premier League season.

The reigning European champions face Slovakia in Oviedo on Saturday hoping to regain top spot in Group C and avenge their defeat in Zilina last October.

Costa has appeared in just two of Spain’s six qualification matches so far due to persistent hamstring injuries but is likely to lead the line for Vicente del Bosque’s side, despite having failed to score in any of his three appearances for Chelsea this season.

“I speak to Diego a lot and he says he’s feeling great,” said Cazorla. “On other occasions when he’s come to the Spain squad with injuries he has not been in his best physical condition.

“Right now he feels good and he’s enthusiastic. He’s going to be a vital player and hopefully he can score lots of goals.”

Cazorla has also played only a bit-part role in Spain’s qualification campaign to date, but he insists he is happy to play anywhere - even if it means shifting from the deep-lying position he has made his own at Arsenal.

“Personally, I've been playing all year in this position with Arsenal and I like it," he added.

"I got used to it quickly. In the last qualifying game I played alongside Busquets and I enjoyed playing there. The main thing though is give my all for the team no matter where I'm asked to play."
