Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney has backed new signing Anthony Martial to be a success following his move from Ligue 1 side Monaco.
The 19-year-old became the world's most expensive teenager after United agreed to sign the forward for an initial fee of £36 million, possibly rising to £58m depending on performance bonuses.
Rooney admits he was forced to ask French teammate Morgan Schneiderlin for more information on the youngster following the deadline day move but believes Martial has the talent to prosper at Old Trafford.
"It's been well documented I haven't seen that much of him to be honest, so I can't really say too much on him," the United captain confessed.
"I saw him last season against Arsenal where he had a fantastic game, so hopefully he'll be a great signing for us.
"He's got a lot of ability from what I've seen and I'm sure he'll be a good player for us."
