The winger limped off midway through the first half against Iceland and is now set for a month on the sidelines as he recovers.
Robben will now miss Bayern's opening two Champions League group games against Olympiakos and Dinamo Zagreb as well as the Bundesliga clash against last season's runners-up Wolfsburg on September 22.
He also faces a race against time to be fit to face Borussia Dortmund on October 4, though he will definitely miss Oranje's crucial Euro 2016 qualifier against Turkey on Sunday.
The former Chelsea man has been replaced by Sunderland's Jeremain Lens for Sunday's match in Konya while new manager Danny Blind has also called up Southampton's Virgil van Dijk to replace the suspended Bruno Martins Indi.
Speaking of his injury on Thursday evening, Robben told NOS: I was super fit, but after a few knocks I felt it in my back. That went on to my groin and I couldnt go on with the match.
"Now I will go back to Munich and I will not be playing against Turkey."
