Real Madrid president Perez fumes at Man Utd over De Gea: They took EIGHT HOURS to send back the contracts

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has stated that David de Gea's transfer to the Spanish club collapsed because Manchester United took eight hours to send contracts back to the Bernabeu club.

Both clubs had agreed a transfer, but the move did not go through as time ran out on the deadline day in Spain, with De Gea now staying in Manchester until at least January.

Thegoalmac understands the Spain international may now consider signing a new deal at the Red Devils after his move - which involved Keylor Navas going in the opposite direction - fell through on Monday.

But Perez says that De Gea was set on the transfer, and does not understand why United waited until so late to negotiate for the sale of the keeper.

"De Gea was very affected because he really wanted to come to Real Madrid," Perez told Cadena Ser.

"At 13.30, Manchester United already had the contracts. We sent the contracts to Manchester United at 13.30 and they took eight hours until they sent back the papers.

"We don't understand why they took eight hours to see the contracts and we don't understand that if they wanted to negotiate, they waited until the last moment.

"Our relationship with Manchester United is good. [Iker] Casillas always had good words for De Gea.

"We do not understand many things, but I'm not here to blame anyone. They [Manchester United] lack experience, because this same thing happened last year to [Fabio] Coentrao and Ander Herrera [with Athletic]."
