Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has confirmed that both Pedro and Willian are out of Saturday’s clash with Arsenal at Stamford Bridge.
Pedro was replaced during Chelsea’s 3-1 defeat to Everton and failed to make the squad for the Blues’ 4-0 win over Maccabi Tel Aviv on Wednesday due to injury.
Willian, meanwhile, opened the scoring in the Champions League opener but was forced off after just 23 minutes with a muscle problem that will also keep him out of Saturday’s clash.
"Willian is out for sure, I think Pedro is out for sure. I prefer problems when players are playing well than problems when players are playing badly,” Mourinho told reporters.
The Chelsea boss made six changes to his side for the clash with Maccabi Tel Aviv, with new signing Baba Rahman brought in, as well as youngster Ruben Loftus-Cheek, who impressed his manager.
"I think he [Loftus-Cheek] played very well which is very good for us," he explained.
"I think he is in conditions to compete with the others for positions and minutes but he is having minutes.
"He played already in the Premier League this season, now in the Champions league. He's potentially a very good player.
"You have to feed these young players and choose the right moment but the reality is that his evolution is important."
