Overmars: Netherlands suffer every 10 years

Marc Overmars is not surprised by Netherlands' drop in quality, insisting the national team goes through a rough patch every decade.
Danny Blind's side are fourth in Euro 2016 qualifying Group A after Sunday's 3-0 defeat to Turkey and in severe danger of missing out in a spot in the tournament in France next season.
Four points from the last two games for Turkey will be enough to secure the play-off place, meaning the Dutch will be eliminated.

Overmars though, insists it is part of a pattern Netherlands go through every few years and the current predicament does not worry them.
"This happens once in every 10 or 12 years," he told Goal. "Towards 2002 we also had a difficult strike and we didn't qualify for the World Cup. The same thing happened between 1982 and 1986.
"Sometimes everything runs against you, like just now. But I'm not worried. In the last six years, Netherlands played in a final and a semi-final of a World Cup.
"Currently the results are bad, but that doesn't mean everything is bad, because it isn't at all.
"If I look at the players at their clubs, I think there is more than enough quality to do better, but it just has to fall into place.
"The only thing I'm worried about is that the Dutch clubs don't get enough points in Europe. Hopefully we'll get back on our feet soon."
