Obafemi Martins was again unstoppable to propel his MLS club Seattle Sounders to another victory on Sunday night as they beat Portland Timbers 2-1.
‘Oba’, as the former Birmingham City striker is referred to in the United States, scored a goal in the sixth minute, when he capitalized on a defensive blunder to power in a low left-footed drive to give Seattle Sounders a 1-0 lead.
Martins has now scored 10 goals in 14 games.
The former Inter Milan star was brought down inside the Portland Timbers 18-yard box and the resulting spot kick was converted for the second goal in the 42nd minute by Brad Evan.
