USA coach Jurgen Klinsmann conceded that his side simply couldn’t cope with Brazil once Dunga's men raised the tempo in the second half of Tuesday’s Chevrolet Brasil Global Tour clash at the Gillette Stadium in Boston.
The Selecao only led 1-0 at the break, with Hulk netting an early opener, but the visitors stepped it up a notch following the half-time introduction of captain and star forward Neyma and eventually ran out 4-1 winners.
“Their tempo, their speed of play, speed of thought and speed of execution - all those elements were very impressive,” Klinsmann told reporters.
“For us, it was a huge learning curve. It was a completely different tempo they set, and we couldn’t go to that tempo.”
Neymar doubled Brazil’s lead from the penalty spot just five minutes after the break, having drawn Geoff Cameron into a clumsy tackle inside the box, and added a second goal in the 67th minute.
However, fellow substitutes Lucas Moura and Rafinha also played impressive cameos, leading a dynamic and fluid front line that attacked with devastating pace.
“We’re not used to that,” Klinsmann confessed. "It’s the tempo that is played in the Champions League. They’re always two thoughts ahead. That’s a level we’re trying to catch as fast as we can.”
The victory followed up Brazil’s 1-0 win over Costa Rica in New Jersey on Saturday and was coach Dunga’s 12th consecutive Chevrolet Brasil Global Tour success.
USA face Mexico next month in a play-off to decide who will represent Concacaf in the 2017 Confederations Cup, while Brazil must begin their World Cup qualifying campaign away to Chile on October 8.
