I think Balotelli has matured - PrandeIli

Former Italy boss Cesare Prandelli has high hopes for Mario Balotelli, stating that the historically controversial striker spoke with real maturity upon his return to AC Milan.

Balotelli has made several headlines over the years with his often dubious behaviour, leading many to believe the 25-year-old will never reach his potential.

Prandelli on the other hand believes the player may have reached a turning point in his career.

“Mario has a good heart, I'll always have a lot of affection for him,” the ex-Italy coach told MilanNews. “But I was very impressed with what he said upon his return to Milan, when he spoke of the responsibility of fatherhood and losing his own father.

“It read like the words of a mature person and that is my hope – that he can fulfil his full potential.”

Although a former player with Juventus and manager at Roma, Prandelli went on to tip the new-look Milan sides as real Scudetto contenders ahead of the Derby della Madonnina on Sunday.

“They [AC Milan and Inter] are two teams that have gone through a revolution,” the 58-year-old said. “It will be interesting to see how the coaches approach the game tactically. They're both winners and they know each other very well.

“Both teams are contenders for the title, I think there'll be a lot of goals [on Sunday].”
