Rami blow for Sevilla

Sevilla have been dealt a major blow with the news that Adil Rami has been ruled out of action for six weeks through injury.

The former AC Milan centre-half pulled up during training on Tuesday and underwent medical tests on Thursday.

Sevilla have now confirmed that Rami suffered "a torn left adductor muscle" and will be "sidelined for approximately six weeks".

As a result, the 29-year-old will miss Sevilla's opening two group games in the Champions League, at home to Borussia Monchengladbach next Tuesday and away to Juventus on September 30.

Rami will also sit out the Liga meetings with Levante, Celta Vigo, Las Palmas and Rayo Vallecano.

The Frenchman's absence represents a major selection headache for Sevilla coach Unai Emery, given fellow defenders Daniel Carrico and Nicolas Pareja are also currently out of action.

Rami had played every minute of Sevilla's first two Primera Division outings following his summer signing from AC Milan for a fee of €3.5 million.
