Louis van Gaal feels his Manchester United side were "too dominant" to adapt to Swansea City's change in game plan as they fell to a 2-1 defeat at the Liberty Stadium on Sunday.
The visitors started both halves strongly, with Juan Mata making amends for a first-half miss by putting his side into the lead just after half-time, only for Andre Ayew and Bafetimbi Gomis to seal the three points for the home side.
Van Gaal believes the game was lost "in five minutes" as his players failed to cope with Garry Monk's tactical changes and close out the victory when in front - but maintains United played well throughout.
"[Swansea] started in 4-2-3-1 and at 1-0 they changed their shape and we couldn't cope," he told Sky Sports.
"That's not good because in only minutes, in the dominant role, we have lost [the game] and that was a pity because I think we controlled the game and played very good.
"In the last 20-25 minutes Swansea were compact and it's always difficult to beat a compact team so we were probably too dominant to have the sense to do that.
"We could have scored much more goals so I don't think that's the problem. When you create chances that's the biggest issue and you need also a little bit of luck.
"When the opponent scores goals, always you can find errors but I have to analyse that with my players, not with you."
